Coming off of a big 3-0 win over Western Conference foe San Jose Earthquakes over the weekend, the MLSsoccer.com Power Rankers bumped the Houston Dynamo up a couple of spots in their weekly list.

The Dynamo moved up to No. 7, one spot short of their season high. Here's what the rankers had to say about Houston this week:

Back at the top of the West and unbeaten in six, the Dynamo have a lot going for them. They have an established playing style, a regular starting XI and the luxury of bringing along Tomás Martínez slowly. Back-to-back road matches in Vancouver and Dallas will go a long way toward determining whether they can compete for the No. 1 seed come the fall.

Of course, the Dynamo moved into the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference standings with the win, but are tied on points with both Seattle Sounders FC and Sporting Kansas City. With 10 games to play in the regular season, the pressure is mounting for the final months heading into the playoffs. With three games in the next week, including a home match against SKC on August 26 (8 p.m. | TICKETS) the Dynamo have a big opportunity to continue their run at the top.
